Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Sep 2, 2025 from 1030-1200

After a slightly tiring Walk the Wall yesterday, I was a bit empty in energy as well as in mind as such I forgot to bring my iPhone to the street outreach. Thanks to Johnny he still was able to take a couple of phots for me, especially for a very interesting and important chat that was imitated by an fallen ex-Catholic. He overheard my gospel sharing with an Indonesian Islamic lady and felt that my passion of evangelism was driven by my insufficient or incorrect knowledge about the Christian God. He purposely skipped his bus and sat down with me to challenge me if God is all knowing that human will sin against Him, why he still bothered to create human that is destined for eternal death in hell. My apologetic feedback went this way; Yes God is all knowing, as such he knew the fallen angels are all beyond redemption even given chance for them to repent. Actually , the rebellious angels turned Satan have been defeated and casted down to abbyid of the earth before 6 days creation where it was a place of all darkness without light. God gave them a chance to seduced and tempted human which He created in His 6 days creation. His fore knowledge knew that with free will human may fail momentarily to the temptation of Satan and sinned against God, but through the agape love that God has shown to human even when they have all become enemy of God, to the extent even sending His begotten son to be born to die for us on the cross and descended to hell to make himself available to be our Savior taking our place to receive the punishment of eternal death. So through His all knowing character, He is certain that fallen human will eventually be moved by the sacrificial love of God and be benefited by His atoning grace to reconcile with God and resume the unfinished development of mutually loving relationship between God and Human into eternity.

I complimented this guy for his eagerness to get his mystery about God and His mission clarified by rational and fair dialogue. He was glad for this chat and indicated he would like to chat with me if God let us meet again.

I had many other interesting dialogue, for example, with an Australian born Sri Lanka girl who happened to be also a Catholic Christian but lacking assurance of salvation. Then a chat with an Indian matured age man who enlightened me with a knowledge that the Caste system was invented by the British, but I questioned him why the highest caste is all the Priest or Brahman,

a member of the highest Hindu caste, that of the priesthood. He shocked me saying actually it was not true, in every social class, they all should play the role of Priest which aligned with the Biblical teaching of Priesthood of all Believers. In retrospect, I think I should have asked if he is readily a Christian.

Anyway, it was a very interesting and fruitful outreach.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday August 27th 2025 from 1030-1200

Today Johnny was able to join me in Sunnybank to do street outreach under marvelous early Spring like weather condition despite we are legitimately still within the late Winter period.

God ble3ssed and used Johnny lately, leading him to share gospel with many non-believers who surprisingly responded to receive Christ right away after the gospel sharing. I also got many follow up opportunities to chat with some one we met and chatted before. Another amazing thing was God led us to meet repeatedly with people from Uzbekistan that we never came across before in the past years. Uzbekistan is a doubly landlocked country located in Central Asia. It is surrounded by five countries: Kazakhstan to the north, Kyrgyzstan to the northeast, Tajikistan to the southeast, Afghanistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest, making it one of only two doubly landlocked countries on Earth, the other being Liechtenstein. Islam is the predominant religion of 94.7%, and most Uzbeks are Sunni Muslims. So, it was very precious Kairos moment for us to share Gospel to them. In general, the gospel targets we met today including even those from Mainland were all open and receptive to Gospel with a couple of them even not minding to take selfie with me. So, mission matters and God's sovereign power counts.

It was a warm Spring liked end of Winter day. The fresh and sunny weather gave every one at the bus stop a fresher and cheerful mood. God led us to have conversation to both new people and some having chatted before even last week. It gave us chance to do follow up check to reinforce the message that all good person as long as not perfect, we all need an external agent to save us from eternal disqualification for a heavenly citizenship. All those who heard the gospel all appeared receptive and affirming the rationale that all the good persons, as long as they are not perfect, all need an external agents , who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God to incarnate as a perfect human being but not belonging to the fallen human race, to come and die for us as such in hell he took our place to receive the eternal death punishment to set our imperfect sin record straight and cleaned without sin anymore.

Pray that all who heard the gospel will be led to Christ by God's gracious election, in His time.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday August 20th 2025 from 1030-1200

Today was rainy and I was again serving solo at Sunnybank. General mood of people was not good. Just managed to have a few meaningful chats with a Hongkonger and a young man from

Uzbekistan in Central Asia that I have never met before. Mainlander in general are still the hardened heart people for outreach. I anyway caught up with a young girl who was approached before here by either Johnny or Edwin for some follow up chat.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Aug 19th, 2025 from 1030-1200

Despite of the extraordinary winter chill, it was another big day of street outreach at Toowong by Johnny and Hung teaming up to be on mission with God. Majority of the gospel sharing faced friendly and open heart reception. God used us to share with both non-believers from Muslim, Hinduism , Buddhism and even atheist background and Christians from both Catholic and protestant camp. It was so good that even people of other religions and even atheist now accepted that all human are not perfect as such we all lost the right to be the people of the divine Kingdom again unless we can let a perfect human to be our Saviour, taking our place to receive the punishment of our sin as such our sins are all pardon with record reset to zero. It makes those repentant persons to become a new Creation because of Jesus redemptive grace through His atoning death. As for Christians, majority do not have 100% assurance of salvation, but all felt so grateful, once clarified that despite we are all not yet perfect, but through the effective work of Jesus dying for our sin, we all have 100% certainty that the God's people identity have been granted back to us. On this foundation made through Jesus redemptive work, God can kick off His sovereign life transforming work in our life through the work of the Holy Spirit. Overall speaking, many street outreach targets were willing to take a selfie with me to symbolize their affirmation to the gospel message and appreciation for our heart to share them the truth of God in terms of His dual Kingdom and Salvation Project and the ultimate consummation of the heavenly kingdom on earth into the new heaven and new earth eternal status.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday August 6th 2025 from 1030-1200

Today, I was alone again to do the street outreach with all my team mates not available. Sunnybank uses to be a heard land for gospel outreach, so I just aimed to take a soft approach to get connected first especially with Mainlander. And today my first target was from Xian. My past visits to Xian twice helped me to quickly build rapport and could transit to gospel sharing. Then I was led to connect with yet another Indian Christian. He actually approached me with a purpose to show his support and appreciation. He even donate $20 which is the first time people doing this on the street. I anyway accepted it and will donate to Walk the Wall to support Ivano. He is also the rare clear minded Christian that answer the two diagnosis questions correct showing he has 100% assurance of salvation and a good biblical understanding of salvation. Many other approaches were either not complete and ineffective.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Aug 12th, 2025 from 1030-1200

Today, Edwin was still not available due to car break down. So only Johnny and Hung teamed up at Toowong. It again was a fruitful time for us to reach out to non-believers from different cultures and other religions as well as Christians from different denomination/background. One good thing is Johnny asked me to get a name card of Kenneth from Power to Change so that people can approach them for help to pursue further on the ground/foundation we built.

As for me, today was mainly a Christian apologetic day. Apart from a few non-believers from Beijing and Hunan Changsha of Mainland China and one Muslim girl from Kuwait, I met Christians of different background, ie. born from a South Indian Christian family, Catholic, Orthodox and protestant from Baptist and Presbyterian background. Amongst all these 5 or six Christians, only one young girl professes the correct understand of faith with 100% assurance of Salvation in Christ alone. She actually came for a Christian conference held at UQ campus. So, the teaching of the churches seem to be far not clear and good enough to nurture all new converts to have the unshakable foundation of Christian bottom-line doctrine of faith.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Aug 5th, 2025 from 1030-1200

It was a day full of grace and surprised, especially for Johnny. He started off encountering strong resistance having been rejected for any chat for the first 4 to 5 person along the long queue for bus. He immediately resorted to a prayer of SOS, and then God showed Johnny His grace and the power of the Gospel, the following two gospel target all responded overtly and willing to receive Christ as their Savior on the spot, one is Asian from unknow place but very good in English, another is from Indonesian with some Chinese blood. Both genuinely repent and received Christ on the spot with Johnny witnessing and praying for the conversion. It was a miracle that only God can perform.

As for me, I was sort of smooth sailing with a clear pattern. Apart from the chats with first a local nonbeliever Aussie David and last an Indian Christian Danelle, all the rest are with Cantonese background people from Guangdong and Guangxi province. They were not behaving like typical mainlander taking an avoidance approach but all embrace the gospel with an open mind and receptive hearts. May all Glory be to God.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday August 6th 2025 from 1030-1200

Both Johnny and Edwin were not available to day so I was left to do solo, but also for a short period. It was because mild flu symptom of bleeding and running nose. Irrespective of all these minor restraint, I still can manage to share gospel with many with mixed result. There were blunt ignoring if not straight rejection. There were half hearted ones hearing without listening or abrupt aborting the sharing midway. By the grace, there were also a couples of open and receptive ones. For instance , with Charloote a local Brisbane girl studying last year at UQ for Art. She is a non religious non-believers, but she was polite and considerate to let me share her the full gospel and ended up admitting it is all convincing for every one goof or bad, as long as we are imperfect, we all need the grace of God to save us through the atoning death of Jesus. She promised she will think deep and make her personal decision to accept Jesus in her personal private space. Another long and fruitful chat was with a Shanghainese couples. Basing on the common affiliation with Shanghai, I virtually shared my life witness to him even without much religious vocab. All in all, it was a blessed morning to let me keep my commitment to live a life on mission with God.

It’s been a month of gospel chats with those that have been open - praise the Lord, may his mercy be magnified.  It’s been a month of gospel chats with those that have been resistant - praise the Lord, may his justice be magnified.  Yet, it may be those that are initially resistant that end up accepting the mercy of God; and likewise, it may be those that are initially open that end up rejecting the mercy of God.  Who knows?  God knows.  But either way, he will be glorified in him becoming more known through our feeble effort.

Often when people ask me how the street evangelism is going, I’ll tell them about a recent chat I’ve had where the person was resistant.  In my mind, I’m just excited that I had the opportunity to talk to them, and bring glory to God in the process.  But then the person I’m talking to will misinterpret that into thinking I need encouragement.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I do need encouragement, and I need the prayers of the saints, as we all do.  But, I’m content in my labour, without that allowing me to become slack in my labour.  I have the sufficient encouragement of scripture and the sound theology that comes from that.

Our job is to plough, sow and water.  It’s God’s job to bring the increase.  It’s hard work, and yet, the burden is light.

And when you are persistent, then the reward comes.  Yes, there is a lot of rejection and indifference from those walking past, but then someone will stop and you will have a gem of a conversation!  And so, to you: reader, I want to encourage you!  Don’t go soul winning once and give up!  Make a commitment to go regularly, and be persistent, and before you know it, years will have gone past and you will have memory after memory of God honouring gospel conversations where those you talked to may have been resistant or open, but you know God was glorified either way.

The opportunity for the gospel is unlimited.  And it’s been very encouraging for me to have a couple of the young men from my own local church joining me in outreach this month.  Rovin has been joining me on Sunday afternoons, and Toby joined me on a Saturday afternoon.  I’m loving having you guys join me!  And, if you are in Christchurch, I’d love to have you join me too.  Get in touch.

Here are a couple of highlight chats from the last month.

I’ve been working on being more disciplined in my personal devotions, prayer and Bible study.  One of my constant prayers is that, in my evangelism, I’ll be faithful to the word of God, and not compromising out of fear of man.  And yet, I pray that I’ll be gentle and respectful in my communication.  Now Society is fickle.  In one season, a particular issue (e.g., gender identity, or climate change) will be hot, but then the next, it’s not.  I’ve been through seasons where everyone will be asking / challenging me about homosexuality, but currently, it’s not an issue that comes up often.

But, two Fridays ago, I got into a gospel chat with four young people from Perth.  They were all in different spaces, and most of them were not taking the chat too seriously.  But, as the chat progressed, one lady did become serious.  She initially denied that God is real, but as she came to realise that it didn’t make sense that God was real, she challenged me: “well, I wouldn’t be welcome at church”.  “Why not?”, I responded innocently.  She shot back: “I’m gay”.  Faithful, yet gentle and respectful.  My initial response was to play neutral, “we are all sinners” - which is true, and yet, I knew that wasn’t faithful, and so, I had to be honest.  “Yeah, homosexuality is a sin”.  The air became icy.  It was uncomfortable.  But we must be faithful.  The conversation continued for a bit, but there was no real engagement at this stage, and so it was natural to let the chat wrap up.  As the four young people moved on, I offered follow up tracts, 2 took one, and to my surprise, the girl who claimed to be gay took one.  From her own mouth, her reason for saying God is not real is because she is gay, and yet, I made it clear that that didn’t make sense.  God is real, we all know it, yet we suppress that truth because we love our sin.  If we humbly face the truth of our sin, then there is mercy and forgiveness - because of Jesus.

Later on the same day, an older man went past.  “Excuse me sir, can I ask you a question?”, I say.  He was initially surprised by my question “What do you think happens after life?”, and yet he stayed to talk.  Yes, although most have their head in the sand, many want to talk about this - esp. with someone who is safe: that is, a stranger.

It turns out this man was Jewish.  As we chatted, he felt he trusted me enough to confess that he was grieving the loss of a close relative in Israel, he was a soldier who had been killed in Gaza.  He, like everyone else, is trying to process the evil and suffering and reconcile it all.  Glory to God!  I was giving the privilege of ministering to him.  Sadly, he was resistant to the gospel - it was like all his reasoning ability was turned off.  And yet, soil was ploughed, seeds were planted, questions were answered.  Although he was rejecting the gospel for now, nothing is wasted: God’s mercy or justice will be magnified.  As the conversation wrapped up, I was again able to express my sympathy over his loss. He teared up again in grief as he moved on.  God, have mercy!

On the following Sunday, I had a wonderful chat with a young lady, very resistant at the moment, and yet she was challenged by the reality of God’s law.  She moved on before I could share the gospel (although she did take a tract).

As I looked up, a lady was sitting on the bench across from me and watching intently.  She recognised me, but I didn’t recognise her.  I approached, and it wasn’t long before I remembered exactly who it was.  It was a young lady that I’ve been praying for.  I had a long chat with her, maybe a year ago(?).  She had opened up about some very painful and difficult situations at the time.  Things were no different now, and so I was able to continue the chat.  Amazingly, in spite of all the terrible things that had happened to her, she had no conception of her own wrong.  She seeked to justify all she did, to the point of absurdity.  She insisted on her goodness.  So I patiently laboured with her.  Although she is not outwardly open at this stage, I know there is something in her that is honest about the things we were talking about.  I gave her a gospel of John to read.  Pray that she does.  I hope to see her again and continue the conversation.  Or maybe you will be the one to continue that chat?  Come join us in the harvest!
