The Battle Log is the place where reports from each of the Operation 513 evangelism teams are posted.

It gives you a brief idea about what occurred during the outreach and some of the highlights.

Even though there is not a report from each team on the Battle Log every week, all these teams do meet according to the schedule (usually weekly).

So please keep them in prayer and consider joining one if it is in your area.

February is the last month of summer in NZ, and it also marked the last special outreach of the season for us.  Andy & I headed to Dunedin for outreach during O-week, or ‘Ori’ (university orientation week) in conjunction with Cornerstone International Bible Church, Shane Louie of OAC and a team he had gathered.  Our focus for the week was between the Museum Reserve (close to the university) and the Octagon (which included a major bus stop hub, and the main shopping area: George Street).  There were many opportunities to engage with students, but also people of all walks and seasons of life.

There was a lot of rain.  It was so heavy on Tuesday that Andy & I were forced to spend our time in our cabin in online outreach instead.  But the other days of the week were spent pounding the streets and talking to people face to face.  I’m going to let the pictures do most of the talking, but I’ll give one story.

On Wednesday, at the end of the day's outreach, I was tired, so I reverted to handing out tracts on George Street.  A guy noticed what I was doing and came over to accept a tract and talk.  He said he had just talked to a Christian guy and really disagreed with what he was saying.  It didn’t take long to confirm that he had talked to Andy!  Andy was at least a kilometer away outside the Museum Reserve, so it was quite a coincidence that this guy bumps into me soon after.

Anyway, I was able to continue the conversation, but he quickly became frustrated with me too - as soon as I started talking about the fact that our work can’t save us.  You see, his background is Bahá'í which tries to respect all religions and spiritual writings, and yet contradicts the clear teaching of the Bible by saying that we are saved by our effort, rather than by grace.

I didn’t make too much more progress in the conversation, due to his resistance.  But, I was able to challenge him: “if you respect all the writings, you should read the book of Romans in the Bible”.

The guy eventually moved on; we parted on good terms.  And, later, I was able to encourage Andy on how I was able to follow up on the conversation he had started.

On Friday, we spent the morning in outreach to the Bus stops and the Octagon, before heading back to the church facilities to pick up our car and start the drive back to Christchurch.  As we were driving out of the city, Andy noticed a Dominos Pizza and suggested we stop for lunch, but then I noticed a Pizza Hut just ahead, and recommended that.  It just so happened that there was a park right outside, and there was no traffic behind, so we could safely take it.  We went in and ordered some pizza to takeaway - we wanted to hit the road and get home to our families.

As we were sitting in the car, we decided to eat a few slices first, and as we were eating, who should walk by?  The same guy we had both talked to on Wednesday!  He noticed us, and came over to say hi.  Coincidence?  We were able to offer him pizza and continue the chat.  Amazingly, he said he had started to read Romans.  And then he asked if I could take his number, which I did.  So I’m still in contact.  The ball is in his court, he knows how to reach me if he has questions.  Yet, he is ultimately in the hands of God who is seeking and saving the lost.  He won’t lose any of his sheep!

Thank you for continuing to pray for our street and online work.  Without the power of God, our feeble efforts are in vain.  All glory to God alone.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday Feb 18th 2026 from 1030-1130

Today, Jon was not available so only Edwin, Ann & Hung were present for the Sunnybank outreach.

It is a different kind of team work. Ann tend to have long chat with target for relationship building and connection before evangelization. Edwin work like whirl wind, sweeping through to catch up with every one and share the nutshell of the gospel. Ha ha, however today , he encountered a lady who was keen to ask questions. It held up Edwin for a good 20 mins or more.

It was good to work with God through the Spirit from divine connection with the elected ones, engagement into conversation and sowing the seed of Gospel.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Feb 17th, 2026 from 1030-1200.

Today is Chinese Lunar New Year Day, but just an ordinary working week day in Australia. Thus business as usual that I still went to dfo my commitment of street outreach at Toowong. It looked set that it was an extension of last week status that, time available for a full gospel sharing was all limited because people arriving to the bus stop very close to the scheduled bus arrival time. Despite of this late constraint factor, I still managed to have incomplete Gospel sharing with the elected ones chosen by God. It included an ABC Chinese who speaks only English, a Mainlander Chinese doing law study and a couple more from India, local Aussy young lady and finally an elderly Aussie lady who struggled to ride her 3 wheel bicycle down the slope from the hostel to the pedestrian path. In this last particular case, God showed me outreach shall go beyond talking but grabbing the Kairos movement to show action love first before you connected them to have a chat. This mindset was confirmed once again by God through the mega advertisement screen on my way back to the car park.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday Feb 11th 2026 from 1030-1130

It was great to have Edwin coming back with Jon to try out once again this Sunnybank mission field. Though Edwin had to come much later because of an ad hoc zoom interview with the Methodist National Board members. It gave Jon some degree of freedom to experience again the way to do outreach whether it is by his own cleverness and choice or by the divine election of targets and guidance by the Holy Spirit. Ann actually joined us much earlier today but her calling to day was to have a long chat with an African man.

There were a bit of team effort between Jon and me. He approached many people facing quick initial rejection. I was moved to follow up for a 2nd attempt as moved by the Spirit. It works several time ie on an atheist Korean whom I first got him connected on the topic of the recent political Stalemate on the eastern seas warzone. Jon was able to connect with an Indonesia Christian couples (Paul And Mania) and invited them to join our Wednesday outreach.

Overall speaking it was a fruitful outreach hours for me sharing gospel and testifying for Christ to people of many nations, including 2 Koreans, an Australian born Indian, an Indonesia couples, two mainland Chinese elderly, and a few young Hongkongers.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Feb 17th, 2026 from 1030-1200.

To day was a quiet day. I again did the outreach at Toowong bus stop by myself. Quiet meant not just fewer presence of people. Their time arriving were mostly calculated to i or 2 mins before their bus arrival leaving virtually too small amount of time for a full gospel chat. I still managed to do many fragmented and incomplete gospel sharing handing out to the target the tract and leave them in God's good hand.

Nevertheless, God still awarded me a consolation prize of todays hard yard. Towards the end, I approached an Aussie man in his 50's. He appeared polite and friendly. We chatted in causal manner initially to connect, but he sensed correctly that I was about to chat with him some religious stuff. He gently asked for my understand that he wanted to have a private moment of peace before his bus arrive. I of course had to leave him alone. But after a while I noticed that the Spirit actually moved him to read the tract I left with him. He even finished reading the tract with a few confirming nods. When I wondered if I should go over to check his feedback on the tract. Another older age gentleman came and they started chatting till the bus arrive. To my surprise, when he passed by me before getting onto the bus, he overtly turned his head to me and seriously said a few words of thanks to me for the tract and my intention to share with him the gospel.

So, do not discount anything happening during outreach. Even I was alone but we are never lonely. God is with us all the time and has His plan executed on each and every one we are moved to approach, even for those rejecting or not listening to the complete message or even did not listen directly from me like this gentleman today.

God communicated His message for me through the LCD Advertising big screen that I saw on my way back to the carpark.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday Feb 4th 2026 from 1030-1130

Today Jon Wong of the English pastor of the Sherwood Methodist Church joined me and Ann to do street outreach at Sunnybank. Jon was a missionary to Morocco under OM for 2 years. He is mindful to engage in outreach hoping to find a place he can have max outreach chance in the limited hours. He was a bit disappointed to face rejection in his first attempt and fairing not too good after he wandered off to other place . As for me , I sticked to doing outreach at the bus stop and got reasonable chance of chat with non believers first timer and follow up chats as well as doing assurance of salvation test with Christians of both Protestant or Catholic background. Pray that Jon will allow more time to experience the mode of on mission with God under the guidance of the Spirit.

It’s February already.  Amazing.

So, what happened in January?  Something that has never happened before occurred on Friday.  I was asked: “Are you a pasta?” Haha.  I responded with, “No, I’m not a pasta, and I’m not a pastor either” - I couldn’t help myself.  But I often get comments like this, because, when you succinctly and systematically lay out the gospel in a clear way, people will see the logic of it and be impressed.  It’s not me they should be impressed by, but God and his amazing plan.  I mean that.  This work is not for special people, but for all believers to get involved with.  With a little bit of training, and a lot of guts to push through the fears, we truly can reach people with the gospel, which is the power of God for salvation.  This involves living our lives in such a way that we are ‘salty’ and ‘bright’ by the way we live (we all get that), but, we also must communicate the gospel in words - even if it’s just handing out a tract.  God delights to show his strength through weak things: us, our prayer, and a little pamphlet with the gospel explained.  Be encouraged to reach out, as you can, and where you are.

So, I’ve just scanned my camera roll for the month.  I didn’t take many photos!  Only 2 actually, but one of them has jogged my memory of a good street chat I had this month, so I’ll share about that.  Also, I found 2 encouraging screenshots of messages I received via the needGod.net TikTok Messenger.  You see, a lot of my time is spent sharing the gospel online, these days.  And a lot of that time is spent in TikTok Messenger.  There seems to be an unlimited amount of people messaging in, and I attempt to share the gospel with all of them.  I can’t really keep up, but I rest in the sovereignty of God.  Anyway, check out the 2 screen shots and the 2 pictures.

Let me talk about the picture of the yellow Suzuki Swift - yeah, I’d love a yellow Suzuki Swift Sport!  But that’s not the reason I took the picture, I took the pic to remind me of the chat I had with those 4 young lads.  It was special, because they were very engaged.

School holidays means kids with nothing to do, so they are willing to stick around and talk.  I had my flipchart up, and it was a pleasure to have Corin with me.  If my memory serves me right: 1 of the kids was being a bit silly, another was being resistant, but the last 2 were very open.  The resistant one served to raise good questions for all of them to consume.  I can’t remember all the details of the conversation now, but I’m pretty sure we worked through all the pictures on the flipchart, and then the 2 open guys just kept popping me with question after question so good!  Sowing seeds, may God be glorified in any future harvest of mercy that may occur.

Thank you for keeping us in prayer.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday January 28, 2026 from 1030-1130

Today I served solo initially and joined by Ann a bit later. I went for for some personal matter for a short moment and Ann who came late spotted another lady doing the same for a short while and left.

It anyway was a normal day with good chat opportunity. The stand out one was with Kevin a high school boy with parents from Iraq what what surprised me was that they are a Christian family of 4 generation dated back in Iraq. He has good level of biblical knowledge but still failed to have accurate understanding of God's holistic salvation. As a result, he was tested without assurance of salvation. God allowed long time for me to drill him on the full scope of salvation. I also learned that their family are now worshiping at a Lebanon Christian church near Garden City which is a culturally near neighbor church for them. Does it implies that there is no Iraq background Christian church here. Anyway, God is the one who elect and called His chosen people to reconnect with Him in way and method beyond our imagination. We just need to faithfully proclaim the gospel to whoever people of all nations that God led us to meet in our day in day out open air street outreach.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Jan 27, 2026 from 1030-1200.

Today I went solo but of course with the presence of God led by the Spirit. It was all smooth sailing with all people entering into a very interactive and fruit bearing chat especially with the two no believers that they all Amen to the conclusion that as a good but not perfect persons, we all need Jesus to shoulder the punishment of our sin and made us a person with perfectly no more sin records in Gid eyes. The Christian lady also thanks for my clarification to help her have 100% assurance of salvation. The power of the true gospel is great, All glory be to God.

As a side issue, I encounter special operations on the street by the police and other council workers. I a sense our gospel outreach is also kind of special Kingdom operation that is good for the society.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday January 21, 2026 from 1030-1130

To day was the last day Johnny can join the Sunnybank Team before he is to be away for a while. And we had all the four regular and committed gospel warriors teaming up here in His strength.

Edwin , as usual, was good at swiping through the floor to cover almost every one without a moment of hesitation and delay.

We also had many good divine appointments with all sorts to gospel targets. In my case, it includes those we have chatted many times and initially did not want to chat but the Spirit moved him to allow me to follow up and render my words of encouragement to keep pursuing as led by the Spirit. There was people whom I never have a chat before but actually has been watching us quietly at this bus stop and showing appreciation and good wish for the work we have been doing. I also caught up with a lady who is born in Australia but is of atheist background yet ending up admitting that gospel message is all logical, rational and trustworthy. I encourage here to make her own decision and seek further help from Power to Change. God is good and is sovereign in deciding the timing of the conversion of His elected people.

At the end, God also used a Serbia Christian lady and her grand son to encourage us while I also encourage her grand son to develop his interest and skill in both academic work and sport but both for God's glory sake.
